Good advise, trustworthy assistance and unequaled service. That about sums up GTE's digital/cellular service. And yes, I tried the other.
The "other" in this area would be Cellular One. Although Cellular One did have its good points, it just did not equal that of GTE's. Both the clarity and the coverage of GTE is just, well, much better.
I have a total of four digital phones, each with a different type of coverage.
When choosing which service would be best for me, the GTE representative took the time to go over what each phone's needs would be. In other words, we went through each phones service plan one by one, choosing the plan that would best fit each individual phone.
Shortly after obtaining my service, before switching to digital, one of my phones was "cloned". Somebody had stolen my phone number and was using it to make long distance calls. My bill had a total due of about $1,000.00. I made a phone call to GTE to inform them of what was happening. Without hesitation they told me that what I owed them for the month was the average my last four or five statements.
After a while had passed, (the digital era), I had another problem. My phones started to drop calls. My phone calls would cut off in the middle of conversations. I called my friendly GTE customer representative. She told me that it was probably the phone and that they had been experiencing this exact same problem with the same phones that I was using. Then, to my surprise, she told me that GTE was running a promotion for new subscribers on a particular digital phone, (see my review of that phone - Qualcomm QCP-860), and that I could go down to my local GTE store and get it. Not for the promotion price, but much much lower!
The only negative that I can say about the service is that when I changed to a more convenient plan, I had to sign up all over again for a year. But, all in all, I have had nothing but good service and reliable help from GTE. They are unequaled, in my e-pinion, by any other.
