DVD is the media format of the future. -- I cannot stress this enough. DVDs are going to revolutionize not only movie viewing, but as the premiere storage medium in the years to come. Pretty soon you will see DVD-R burners in people's computers and DVD audio discs in the place of regular CDs. 2. DVD players are becoming less expensive every day. -- Now you can pick up a brand-name DVD player (Sony, Philips, Panasonic) for only $200. 3. DVD-Video offers better visual clarity and video resolution than VHS. -- All new DVD players support TV resolutions of 500 lines of resolution-the HDTV standard of the future. Most new TVs support 300 lines of resolution, and although it can't utilize the full capacity of the DVD player, it does improve movie-viewing noticably. DVD-Video is also all digital and VHS is all analog, and, well, you know which one is better. :) 4. DVD movies offer better audio quality than VHS. -- Again, DVDs are digital, and VHS tapes are analog. We both know which one is better. 5. DVD movies cost the same as VHS. -- An obvious advantage; if you can get more for the same price, then take advantage of it.  |
