don't trust aiwa

Dec 11 '99 (Updated Sep 21 '00)

I bought an Aiwa system awhile ago. Three CD changer, dual cassettes, remote, 60 watts, etc. I can't find the model number but it looks very similar to the models here.

The sound was great. It has plenty of options/features and a lot of little small things that made it a great system. You can change one/two of the CDs while a CD was playing. You can control the entire tape deck with the remote. You can skip tracks on CDs really easy with its little jog button. It is designed nicely for ease of use and understanding. Although, I still can't figure out how to make it repeat a certain track number on a CD.

So the system was great. I was happy with my purchase. But within a year, the CD part of the stereo refused to play CDs, which is what I mainly use. It would just keep rotating from one disk to the next when you pressed play. Everything else was fully functional. And I should mention that I am the only person who uses the stereo so I'm certain it didn't get abused in any way. Having paid over $200, I am not happy with only getting half the stereo I paid for after a couple of months.

Maybe I came upon a bad system. (note: go to reader comments). Whatever the case... there are plenty of other brand names I rather try out before I spend my money on another Aiwa system.
