Is there a battery in this phone?

Written: Mar 20 '00 (Updated Mar 23 '00)
Pros:sound quality
Cons:very low battery life

My company bought me a Qualcomm QCP-860 two months ago. The reason? We were with an expensive carrier so we decided to go with another carrier. When the time to buy phones came, the MIS read the technical spec. Well, I won't say Qualcomm's specs are very accurate regarding the battery life. But at least my company is now saving money...because I tend to not use this phone anymore...

Battery life:
The worst I've ever noticed on a phone (and I work for a telco...).
- Talk time: 30 minutes!
I was on the phone for 30 minutes, talking to my girlfriend. You know the kind of conversation you enjoy...Well my phone beeps... Once, twice...I look at it: battery low.. I had just finished charging the battery! And I was not even driving (switching antennas decreases quickly your phone's battery life)! Well at least I could hear fine (when the battery was working...).
- Standby time: 36 hours

Voice quality:
Relatively good, I can't take that back. For those who are familiar with standards, this is a CDMA phone (for instance, Sprint PCS is a CDMA carrier). CDMA allows good voice quality. Qualcomm is good in this business.

Portability:
Good. This phone is thin enough to fit in your pocket. Might be a little bit to long tough...

Design:
Poor. Once you've touched a Nokia, why would you buy another phone?? Unless you want a CDMA phone...(Nokia does not make CDMA phones)

Features:
Poor. Nokia does way better (for GSM phones). Once you've played with the different ring tones, you get bored right away. There is of course no games (like in some Nokia phones...I know, I love those phones!)

Conclusion:
Well, did you know Qualcomm sold recently its phone division. Yes? They don't make phones anymore. They just make chips now. Why? Because they are doing what they do the best. Qualcomm's phones did provide a good voice quality, and that's all! Design, features and batteries are way too deficient.
So please, before offering a Qualcomm phone to someone, make sure this person was really mean with you!
