Customer Service:
Pros:national network, clarity, cost, no risk 30 day trial, no contracts
Cons:highly taxed, lacks in coverage areas
My first try at a wireless phone seems to be a winner. Sprint is clear, doesn't drop calls, and has coverage most places I go. (But buy the dual mode, analog-capable phone so you can make emergency calls even when away from the PCS network.)
At first purchase, I loved the 30 day money back guarantee. I could try the phone, the service, the whole deal for a month and still get all my money back if I wanted. Compared to other cell phone 'contracts' this felt very safe. Of course, when I dropped the phone in the pool on week two, I learned the guarantee didn't cover misuse or theft. (If this is your first wireless phone, be careful of pools and toilets!) Happily, the phone dried out and works fine now!
I chose this 'standard' plan because it allows the purchase of 8 hrs of off-peak airtime for $4.99/month. This makes 7 PM - 7 AM local calls virtually free! This add-on is worth the $4.99 for sure.
Coolest thing about Sprint PCS is the national network. I've been called for 'free' in Boston, Baltimore, Niagara Falls and Columbus, Ohio. When I travel, my family calls me and its a 'local' call. And, I get the convenience of having a free local phone in the city I'm visiting. (Great for ordering pizza or calling friends to arrange visits.) Small warning: this only works where the Sprint network reaches, i.e. not Vermont or lots of other rural places.
