A Conversation Piece with a Purpose
Written: Dec 04 '99
Pros:Good Sound, Never needs batteries
Cons:None, It delivers as advertised
Most portable radios live in the fast lane. When they are new, they take a place of prominence in the living room or bedroom. Sadly, they are soon replaced and the downward spiral begins. A year or two later that "new" radio is replaced by a spiffier model and the older radio is given to the kids or placed in the basement. Not long after, it is tossed out or goes for a buck at a garage sale.
If you purchase a Baygen wind-up you can expect it to be treated royally. This rugged crank radio was originally designed for use in remote third world villages where power was unreliable or unavailable. This radio has become very popular now in the industrialized world due to Y2K and the extreme weather recently experienced.
My Baygen has excellent reception and crystal clear sound. I'll never throw it out or demote it - because you never know when a power outage will occur and you will need information fast. It is also one of the best conversation pieces I own.
