excellent choice for top quality and versatile car audio. Besides great sound, this unit comes with some really nice features:
- Dmask+, which is Kenwoods term for a faceplate that automatically flips over into a blank panel when you turn the power off. This feature is cool just to watch everytime you switch the car on, but of course the main attraction is that it hide the very nice multicolor face plate. The face plate is also detachable in case you are completely paranoid, but there is really no need for that. This by itself is a good reason to by this unit, because who wants to lug around a face plate. Kenwood even allows you to adjust the angle in which the faceplate faces you, depending on how high or low you mount the unit for best viewing.
- Very sensitive FM receiver which doesn't need a strong signal to tune in to stations
- RDS. This allows you to receive extra information from radio stations that broadcast it. It provides to key features: Stations identification and auto setting of the units clock. If you even have some stations that support this feature, it's really neat.
- Large bright display.
- Programmable settings for CD titles. It's actually not that hard to programm names for CDs.
- PreProgrammed settings for various music types
- Well thought out menu interface makes it relativly easy to use even the more complex features
- And much more which can be found at ttp://www.kenwoodusa.com/
Bottom line: Top notch sound, easy to use, good reception, nice features, and you don't have to lug around the faceplate. The only real complaint I would have is that there are only 6 buttons for preprogramming radio stations. Of course you have 3 different FM sets, but it's a hassle to change the FM set, 10 buttons would be better.
FYI: if you have a bit of a mechanical inclination, you can order it with an easy installation kit from Crutchfield.
