| terranettles's Full Review: Hughes Networks D1131 Single LNB DIRECTV System |
We had primestar before we had Direct tv. We knew they would soon be merging and was told we would have to pay for the new satellite system. The local direct tv office was offering a great special. The entire system was free, 2 months of free programming, 1 month of free unlimited specialty channels(HBO, Starz) and free movie coupons worth $100. We decided to take advantage of this offer.
First of all Primestar was cheaper. It had much better quality and excellent customer service. Only problems we had with Primestar was when it rained a lot we lost service often. Often enough to aggervate us, but not enough for us to cancel.
Second, Direct TV has lots of options for extra channels, for a very hefty price. You also have more sports channels than anything else. My Husband is not a sports nut so we hated it. The package we did want a month was twice as expensive, but had all the channels on it. They tell you can get service for $19.99 a month, but it has nothing on it.
Third, Customer Service is TERRIBLE!! They are very rude and even hung the phone up on me at one time. We apparently got a system that was part of a bad batch and needed to be repaired. It took a week and a half before they came to fix it. And they also said that it was not their fault that we had gotten a bad system and refused to give us any compensation. We finally canceled our service 3 months ago and have not missed it since.
