| blueringnet's Full Review: EchoStar 5000 Digital Satellite System |
I have satellite for three years now. The first unit I bought was Echostar 3000. It came with a tripod because at the time I was traveling from Cape Girardeau to St Louis MO every weekend. I was able to set up the tripod and dish in twenty to thirty minutes usually without a compass after a few times of moving the dish.
After seeing the quality of the picture there is no way I would ever go back to cable. There are a few drawbacks, like heavy rain and snow, but how often does it rain real hard. Where I live I only lose the picture three or four times a year and only for a few minutes, maybe a half hour. And of course one of the best shows of the year are on, but like regular tv the show will be on again.
More important there are so many different channels, that if you do not check the television guide before you surf, the show that you might have watched is over. Now that Dish network offers nearly 500 channels it will be even harder. Not even congress can stop me from using satellite. As soon as the law gets changed where they can transmit local channels there will be no reason to have cable.
Dishnetwork will soon have satellite internet with 30 meg/sec download. (still waiting) Somewhere between T1 and T3. Cable can not do that!! I now have two satellite dishes and two receivers. I have a 3000 and 5000 model receiver. The 5000 has caller id on the tv screen.
Just try and take away my satellite.
