Pros:Value for money, good plans, decent coverage
Cons:Problems with numeric paging, inexperienced customer service
but there are several major pros and cons to using Sprint PCS. Coverage has been good for me, for the most part. Even when I'm in the service area and the signal fails, I normally can get my call through again in a couple of minutes. Call quality is good, again, for the most part.
I enjoy having the call waiting feature, as well as three way calling, caller ID and voice mail, but have had some major problems with the pager option. When a caller gets your voice mail, it instructs him to either leave a verbal or numeric message. I tested the numeric feature and my page came through almost TEN hours later. I called Sprint Customer Service, and they said there was a documented problem regarding paging in my area, and it was in the process of being fixed. I've since tried it again and it works very well. However, my concern is that should it fail again, I will have no way of knowing that anybody was paging me. If it continues to work well over the next month, I will consider the problem fixed, and not worry any further.
Another problem is that the Sprint Customer Care Advocates seem to be, for the most part, inexperienced and unknowledgeable. Even the most basic question regarding a bill requires being put on hold and then sometimes being dropped. I guess that time will fix this, since Sprint has been growing so fast, they are probably having trouble getting people to work the phones to keep up with demand. The good part is that Sprint seems to be trying, as wait time for an Advocate is always very short, in my experience. Fortunately, whether inexperienced or lacking knowledge, the personnel I have encountered over the phone have always been polite and willing to help me.
The major benefit to Sprint is that it represents a very good value for the money, compared to other plans. Since I travel a lot, I enjoy being able to use my minutes for either long-distance or local calls. You can't beat the deals they offer. In the cities where I travel, Sprint offers excellent coverage as well.
