We purchased this TV prior to moving in our new house and we were so happy when it was delivered. I researched several brands and originally purchased the Hitachi Ultravision 53" because there was no Sony 53" available at the time. The sales associate talked me into the Hitachi claiming it was a better television. I was happy until I saw the Sony in another store about 2-3 weeks later. There was a noticeable difference. The Sony picture is so clear and vivid. I also like the set design. The TV exterior is straight, meaning, the screen and the console below are one line on the side. The console do not jut in 1-2 inches. This is important if you are placing the TV in an entertainment center. There is no gap between the wall and the TV on the Sony. This is a new feature with this year line. Basically the TV's have the same features but the quality of the picture was far superior(to me) with the Sony.
We have another Sony TV, a 27" that is 12 years old and I have never had one problem with it to date. I love Sony and will continue to buy their products.
