This receiver packs quite a punch for the money .It may be a little more complicated than some receivers and will take some time to learn the functions and features, but for me that is part of the fun learning a little at a time keeps it new and interesting to for quite some time.
The power of this receiver is strong and will deliver a striking impact with all five channels delivering 110 watts at 20Hz –20,000kHz. (20Hz is the lowest frequency that the human ear can hear and 20,000kHz are the highest frequency the human ear can hear.) All good amplifier’s power is rated from 20Hz to20,000kHz .
The number of functions and features is unbelievable. This receiver has 29 sound fields and many of them are adjustable The most common sound fields are AC-3 Dolby Digital, 5.1 DTS as well as a 2 channel modes. Built in EQ, individual speaker volume including Sub woofer can be adjusted. There are multiple audio and video inputs, both in analog and digital. The5.1CH analog inputs are CD, DVD .The other analog inputs are Laser disc/TAPE, MINI DISC, TV/SAT, VIDEO1, 2, 3 and PHONO. The coaxial Digital inputs are DVD/LASER DISC .The Optical Digital inputs are DVD/LASER DISC, TV/SAT, and MINI DISC/DIGITAL AUDIOTAPE.
The outputs are TAPE, MD, DAT, (RECORD OUT) VIDEO 1, 2, 3 SUB WOOFER and HEADPHONES. There is so many features that I have not listed the best thing I can tell you is go to your local Sony dealer and have them give you a demonstration, But I will warn you this may result in the sale of a Sony STR-DE935 to you.
The STR-DE935 mates flawlessly with the Sony DVD player (DVP- S530D) and can be controlled with the remote. This will cut down on the number of remotes that you have to keep handy. The 935 ‘s remote will also control a host of other Sony products and many other brands also .
The only con that I have found is that it does not have an on-screen display.
