Pros:new, cheap, color-stream connections
Cons:none

Not long ago, I was shopping merrily along, looking for a bigger TV. At 800.com, I found the Toshiba TZ50V61, which I tossed into my shopping cart and prepared to check-out. Trouble was, I'd saved so much by shopping online, that I had about $300.00 worth of good credit-limit just begging to be used.

I decided to see if I could find a "low-end" DVD-player, to get the most value from my free-shipping offer. I settled on the Toshiba SD1200 because:

(1) It was brand-new. 800.com announced that it had just been released for sale, and was the 6th generation, "low-end" DVD-player from Toshiba.

(2) ColorStream. The Toshiba TV supported ColorStream video connections, and so did the DVD-player. Message boards at 800.com indicated that a ColorStream connection was the best video connection available now. Even better than S-video.

(3) Cheap. I bought the unit for 249.99, with 5 free DVDs to choose from.

(4) Sleek, elegant component. The box is very short compared to most components and that appealed to me. Sometimes, less-is-more.

So far, the unit has performed flaw-lessly. It has DTS and Dolby Digital outputs, and an interesting "zoom" feature, that allows you to "modify" the size of picture, in case you'd rather watch that wide-screen movie in "regular-size" format.

My lack of research was obvious, but I wasn't looking for the VERY BEST DVD-player in the world, or even the best DVD value in the world. I was looking for a sub-$300.00 DVD-player for my new TV, and this unit fit the bill very nicely.
