better than a cable box

We've had a RCA receiver for our direct TV for about a year and a half now and I really like it. The installer set it up for us so we didn't have to worry about that although the users guide explains how to do it.
I like how you can have up to four personal users plus a family one to control who's allowed to watch what. You can very easily set the limits on ratings and time allowed for each person which is great for kids so you can control how much TV and for how many hours they get to watch. Everything is an on screen menu so you just follow along to what you want to do or you can read the guide.
There's a main password control so only the parent can change anything including how much can be spent on pay per view. You can choose to look at the on screen menu only to see what's on for up to 72 hours or if you don't want to miss what you're watching you can choose to look at it on top of your program.
The only thing I didn't like was that you can't change the main password without calling up to have it done. I would prefer to be able to do that at home, but it's probably not something that many people need to do. Unfortunately I have an insomniac husband who doesn't keep track of what he's bought and it can add up pretty fast.
If you have a choice between the RCA and the Hughes receiver I would reccomend the RCA. I happen to have both and prefer this one.
