Poloroid Digital 320/If the Price Seems Great....
Sep 08 '00
I have been wanting to buy a digital camera for a long time and have to admit that I just couldn't afford one. One of the features on AOL is advertising different products they sell and one night when I signed on it was for a digital camera. Price: $59.95. I thought (stupidly) wow what a bargain. I should have went with the old saying you don't get something for nothing.
The camera itself: The 320 has the ability to store 18 pictures. It came with a disk to install on your computer for downloading, a disk for "fun creating," the cable connector and a 9V battery. Now this sounds pretty good right? Not really because the ONE thing they don't tell you is the camera does NOT have a flash. This means if you want to take pictures indoors (which I wanted to do so I could list auctions) you have to make sure there is plenty of light. In the owners manual it even tells you to make sure you seat subjects near a window and shows such an illustration.
Quality of Pictures: I don't think the quality is very good indoors even with sufficient light. The outdoor pictures are sufficient but not great.
The Cost: I was pretty angry after I ordered the camera because I saw the EXACT same camera offered in Ames for $49.95 which was $10 less than AOL and you didn't have to pay shipping. I was incorrect in my assumption that AOL's products were exclusive to AOL.
The Bottom Line: I am keeping the camera only because I can not afford any other digital and need pictures for auctions. However, I do not recommend this as a quality camera or a good purchase.
