If you never thought you would hear earbud headphones with good sound, check out the Sony E848L earbud style headphones. They feature 16mm drivers with tiny neodymium magnets. The size of these earbuds would suit someone with larger ears. They come with a nice plastic case which winds up the cord and really protects them. A note on the case, do not press on the latch to open it, the latch will fall off. Open the case by prying. Also, when winding up the cord make sure you don't let the small plastic cuff at the cord split get caught on the case edge, or you may lose sound in one channel eventually.
About these headphones, well I just can't say enough good things about them. Once they have been broken in (or "burned in" by playing moderately loud music or white noise through them for 20+ hours) the sound reproduction is smooth and realistic. I've never heard an earbud style phone sound as good as these. With the foam pads on, they even have a respectable bass response! They have none of the tinniness present in the sound of many earbud or cheap open phones. The most remarkable aspect of their sound besides the bass response it their realistic reproduction of voice. They also boast an impressive stereo image and are indispensable for binaural recordings. Their low profile and great sound are perfect for most listening situations, expect where there's excessive ambient noise (they have poor isolation). Also, I would not recommend these for active use, as they will fall out of your ears. They have a cord meant to wrap around the back of your neck, so if they do fall out they wont hit the ground and get stepped on. I had a pair of these for 5+ years before constant use & abuse blew out one channel. I immediately replaced them, and even considered getting a third pair just in case they get discontinued. If you like earbuds do yourself a favor and buy these.
