Why should you get a DVD player?
Jun 25 '00
I have 2, one in my home theater system and one in my computer. If you haven't bought a DVD player yet you are missing out on a whole new world of entertainment. The picture quality is second to none. You can freeze a frame and there are no lines like your VHS tapes. You can fast forward or reverse in several speeds, the sound will disappear in theses modes and it comes back when in normal play.
Movies are slightly higher than VHS tapes, but if you take care of them, they should last forever. VHS tapes over a period of time will lose its color, while DVDs will keep it forever. DVDs have a lot of extras on them, like dual versions, extra time left out of the theater version, Interviews with the directors, PC games are being placed on them as extras now and many, many new extras are added all the time.
The sound is second to none. Most DVDs offer several different languages to choose from. The 5.1 Dolby sound is the best there is. You have 1 subwoofer that is the .1 and then the 5 are 5 speakers to make up the richest most beautiful live like sound there is. You have 2 speakers behind you and 3 in front of you. On the 3 in front of you, you have a left, right and a center speaker. The center speaker is where all the voices come through, the other 4 speakers are for your music and sound effects. This is as close to a theater set up as it is going to get.
The DVDs are the same size as your music or PC CDs, in fact your DVD player will play your CDs to. The DVDs do have different cases that are a lot bigger in size.
Why should I have a PC DVD and a Home DVD player? Your PC DVD player hooked up to your big screen through your video card will not deliver the quality of the home player. The PC player will play beautiful full screen movies on your monitor if you have at least a good 16 Meg video card. You can get 20 plus CDs to fit on one DVD, so your PC programs that have several CDs, now will have only one DVD. Also if you have only a home player, then you will notice many DVD movies now offer bonus games for your PC and Internet hookups.
DVDs are now available in most of your rental video stores and can be bought at most of your local stores like, Walmart, Target and K-mart.
It is just a matter of time and your record-able and rewrite-able home DVD players will be on the market, you can get them for your PC now.
DVDs is what is coming and now is a great time to build your video library. One more great thing about DVDs, NO MORE REWINDING, EVER!!!!!!!
