I've always had a soft spot for Sony products. Sure they cost a little more, but I have yet to be disappointed. My first CD player was purchased back in '86, has been through several owners before making it back into my hands. I stepped up to 5 discs (whew!), and have made the jump to 300 discs. What a good jump it was.
First off, the CX-350 holds a whopping 300 discs, with the ability to be hooked up to compatible Sony players so that you still just need the one remote and main player for display. This may sound like overkill, but I filled the player with plenty of CD's left over.
The player allows you to enter the title of the cd for each of the 300 slots. A PC keyboard can be added to make this task SOMEWHAT easier. It also supports CD-Text discs, but those seem to be far and few between. One drawback to the labeling is that you label the individual slot, not the particular CD. Move the CD, and you've got Santana labeled as Britney Spears (maybe that was a bad example!) Some newer players by other brands use the unique code on the CD to follow a move, hopefully Sony will follow suit.
The item that sets this player apart from the rest is the 2-way remote control. It displays disc and track info in the palm of your hand, and is even back-lit for listening in the dark. If the remote is too much for you, step down to the CX-300 and save $100 or so. The CX-300 also has slightly lower signal to noise ratio, but nothing noticeable. Also keep in mind that some Sony receivers also have the two way remote and are compatible with the CD player.
Overall, this player is an excellent choice. If you don't need the remote, step down to the CX-300. You won't be disappointed.
