Well it was time to switch cellular service plans. My old cellular company, Omnipoint, was bought by VoiceStream Wireless and they eliminated many of their plans. So I began to research other companies to find a good fit for me and my girlfriend. My criteria was that the company have an expanse network and that the plan be within my range of about $50 per month.
First we settled with AT&T but they messed up(That's another Epinion that you can read). So instead we settled on Sprint's Free & Clear plan for $49.99 per month. We get 500 minutes per month plus I get a choice of free long distance(there is no additional charge per minute for long distance calls), Nights and Weekends(the amount of minutes included in the plan is matched with an equal amount of minutes to be used solely at after a certain hour every night and all weekend long) or Wireless Web(allows you to access the internet from your phone). We chose the Nights and Weekends as we are out often during those times and could use the extra minutes.
The beauty of Sprint is that you are not bound by a contract and therefor are free to cancel your service at anytime without the usually cancelation charge of about $150.00. But if you do not mind signing a contract then Sprint will give you another option to be selected from a different list which is pretty long. We chose the off-peak option which gives me another 200 minutes on nights and weekends.
We had a problem though that we encountered at a Sprint PCS store. A worker had mishandled the money exchange and somewhere some money was misplaced and my girlfriend was blamed for not giving them the money. She did give them this money and the receipt proved that she did. The next day, the employee from the store called her from his home and told her the problem. She said that she didn't give him the money but would check with the person who gave him the money(it was a gift from her mother). That we thought was the end of it. A couple hours later she went to use her phone and she find out there is a block on it. No phone call, no nothing. What if she had been in an accident and thought that she had a working phone? I guess they don't really care.
Well I called Sprint PCS customer service. They tell me there is a note in the account and that it says that my girlfriend said she didn't pay the money. She did say that but followed it by "I will check with the person who handed you the money." They tell me they can't do anything because it was the manager at the store who had put the block in and only the manager there could lift it. Well they give me the number to the store but to the wrong location. Then I call them again and they give me the number for a store that was next door to the one i needed and had nothing to do with this store for that matter.
Well I got the number from 411 and no one at the store picked up. All day long. I called customer service again.I spoke to a supervisor and she refused to call the store to speak to them. I kept trying the store myself but to no avail. Well I called customer service again and told them my dilemma and some ride worker told me that they might not be picking up because they know who's calling and don't want to pick up. Well we called from 5 different phones, 2 of which were unlisted and 1 which they definitely wouldn't know. But even if this was true it is kind of disturbing that they wouldn't pick up. Well I also decided to tell the lady that the number they give me to the store is for the number to a jewelry store next door. She said no its not, the just don't want to pick up. Well now not only did I think that the people at the store were incompetent, but that Customer Service was too.
Now running low on options, we look at the Caller I.D. and call the worker who called us. He said he would check with his manager and then call us back. He never did and just set his answering to pick up on the first ring. The next day we call the store and I ask to speak to a manager right away,t he put me on hold and say we are closed we'll be open at 11. It was 10:56. Now at 11:26 I call and the manager is busy. I see that I am not getting anywhere. I call Sprint PCS, they agree to call the store and they tell me there is an assistant manager and that she is not authorized to remove the block. I hung. I try to call the store again to see if I can convince the assistant manger to lift the block but guess what, no one answers. Finally after trying and trying, she gets through and talks to the idiot who messed up. Well he says he lifted the block without authorization. He says that there was obviously a misunderstanding somewhere and that he will take the heat for what he did. Then he says you have a friend here. You have my number, I have yours. Don't hesitate to call. Unbelievable. After all this the guy hits on my girlfriend. Go figure. I'll let it slide this time.
But after all this, all she got was meaningless apologies. No offer to credit her account with anything or a free month.
