The Nikon D-1 is great as far as ease and convenient goes but it does contain downfalls. While many are raving about every aspect of it, the color can sometimes be off. First of all, having to set the white balance for every different situation can be a pain. Second, under most indoor lighting circumstances, i.e. tungsten and florescent, human skin tones are off more than they are on. If you are looking for a SLR digital camera and need to get one right away, this is by far the one to get. If you are looking for a digital camera that is simple to use with great color, get the Nikon CoolPix 990. Nikon is supposed to be coming out with a revamped D-1 that will be much better within a year. If you can wait, do so.
