i have had Sprint PCS digital/cellular service since November 1999. I am totally dissatisfied with Sprint PCS due to the fact that just about where ever I call from, I am not in digital range. Instead, I am forced long distance charges through Cellular One or Verizon Wireless(formerly Bell Atlantic and Frontier Cellular).
I will admit that when I am in the digital range of Sprint the call quality is amazing. But when I go 5 miles from my home, the phone disconnects my call due to lack of their service. 5 lousy miles! Thanks goodness I don't need the phone for business. If I did, I would surely lose clients.
With my contract, I did receive a very nice dual mode phone for free as well as bonus features such as 3 way calling, voice mail, and caller id. Unfortunately, I do not use these bonuses whatsoever, and therefore they really do not affect my opinion of Sprint. But now after being 5 months into my contract, I realize why my phone is dual mode. I am absolutely never in the Sprint PCS digital calling area unless I am calling from my livingroom!!! Therefore, I am always being charged more than the already high price of $0.25 per minute in long distance charges.
After all, if I already have a homephone, and only wanted the cell phone for my car, what good is it really? For me, the Sprint PCS cellular service has been a royal pain in the neck. I am going to be paying out the ying-yang for the next year and a half unless I pay off the remainder of my contract.
I am sure for city areas a bit less rural than my own, the Sprint PCS service may be ideal. I should really have done more research into the calling areas and coverage of digital services before I signed on the dotted line so to speak. I recommend that anyone else looking for cellular service really look elsewhere first before coming to Sprint.
