| millin's Full Review: Aiwa CDS-MD50 Portable CD Player |
I purchased this AIWA primarily because of the way it looked. For some reason it seemed sturdier than the others...it wasn't made of cheap metal or plastic like the majority of the mini-systems you see these days. I don't think I even bothered to listen to it before I brought it home. So I was initially attracted to the AIWA's aesthetic appeal.
But that was okay. The AIWA has great sound. I have turned the sound up to almost the maximum and there has been no damage to the speakers. Before my AIWA I had always purchased Sonys (out of brand loyalty). Whenever I turned the sound up really loud the speakers blew. So I had to go buy new speakers a couple of times. In addition, the Sonys always tended to fall apart after awhile, particularly the tape player buttons (yes, I still listen to tapes sometimes). However, my AIWA, which I have had for a couple of years now, is still in great condition.
I would recommend this AIWA mini-system - or any similar AIWA mini-system - to those who don't have the money or room for a larger stereo. The sound is almost as good as the larger stereo systems, and the AIWA will last longer than a lot of the other brands out there.
