Rugged but heavy with some serious design flawsSep 14 '99 Write an essay on this topic. The Qualcomm 820 Phone is offered with several Bell Atlantic digital service packages. In general, it is a capable dual mode (analog and digital) phone, with 100 number memories and all of the usual features and functions of a digital phone, such as caller ID. Although the innovative "wheel" functionality for selecting various function was neat at first, it also can be a pain when you accidentally activate a function while the phone is strapped to your belt. But far worse is the poor design of the "Send" and "End" buttons, which are far to easy to accidentally press. You end up calling people when your phone bumps into just about anything, and more than once, I've made 9 minute calls to my own voicemail! In addition, the antenna developed cracks only days after I got the phone, although these don't seem to have affected the phones performance. I'd stick to the newer Q-series phones, which offer the innovative user interface with a more robust mechanical design. |
