| Kenyaman's Full Review: EchoStar 3720 Dish Network System |
I got tired of cable continually raising my rates and running ads telling me how bad satellite TV systems were. Since it's been my experience that people don't run negative ads unless they are desperate, I did my own research and boy am I glad!
DishTV gives me more channels than I had with cable, and the receiver is much more intelligent. I can set up "favorites lists" which let me tell the system what channels I actually want to watch. That way when I'm surfing I can let the machine skip over all the sports channels and home shopping networks that I never watch. The Dish 150 service I subscribe to even includes several movie-only channels, obviating the need to pay extra for HBO, Cinemax, etc. although those networks are available if you want them. The only drawback is that during severe storms the dish can sometimes lose sync with the satellite; this only happens at the peak of really big storms and hasn't caused any problems for me.
I've called customer service twice: once to sign up for their "automatic credit card payment," for my own convenience, and once to drop HBO (which I found I never watched any more -- too many other channels). Both times I got in with less than 3 minutes wait on hold and had very helpful, courteous people work with me.
All in all, moving to Dish TV was the best move I've ever made. I'm never looking back.
