Images Good as the Photographer that's Taking Them

by Chriss1977 , Sep 05 '00
Pros: Amazing range of options, good image quality
Cons: Big. Floppies can be good or bad feature.
Not too long ago, a friend of mine was in some deep trouble at work. Her boss wanted a website, and he wanted it fast. Little did he know that Terry didn't know the first thing about building websites and she didn't have the time to learn it as fast as...

Worth the money!

by Keith_Williams , Jan 31 '00
Pros: Ease of use, Quality of images and videos
Cons: Size
The Sony MVC-FD91 was selected for use within my military police organization for many reasons. First and foremost, the camera stores images on 1.44MB 3.5” floppy disks rather than requiring any cable connection to a computer. This allows for the...

PICTURE THIS

by Ericstake , Apr 02 '01
Pros: Takes great pictures, comfortable to operate, and the functions are clear.
Cons: Over-all shape could be better.
I started out in photography when I was a kid with one of those $14.95 cameras that used 126mm film. From there I progressed to (cheap) 35mm, then to (expensive) 35mm and, with a modestly price Ricoh, digital photography.

The Ricoh didn't...

ANYONE can use this!

by redm , Dec 12 '00
Pros: Versatility, economical, easy to use, quality results
Cons: LCD screen vulnerable to scratching.
I've had my Sony Mavica FD91 for about a year now and couldn't be happier! The high cost of film and developing pictures was preventing me from taking all the photos I wanted and my kids were growing up fast. Even though the camera seemed expensive...

Pretty good camera -- for now

by dylan , Oct 17 '99
Pros: infinite, free storage, 14x steadyshot optical zoom, 2-hour rechargeable batteries
Cons: other cameras have better resolution, and do better in low light
I fell in love with the Mavica concept (a floppy-disk based system) when I took a trip with a newly-purchased FD-7 to Switzerland, Italy and Germany. I brought a powerbook with me, two batteries, and the universal charger that Sony includes with all...

Best digital camera I ever had!

by Scott_G , Feb 22 '00
Pros: mini movies, sound, uses disks, 14x zoom
Cons: big and bulky
The sony mavica is an amazing digital camera, which I use on a daily basis. First it uses 3 ½ inch disks to store the pictures on so you can take pictures then take the disk out and pop it in your computer or a friends computer and look at the pictures...

A Digital Photographers Dream

by TiredMomof2 , Jan 22 '00
Pros: Zoom, LCD display, long battery life, pictures on floppy
Cons: a tad cumbersome
I personally don't own this product, it's a tad too pricy for me! But I do have one at work that was purchased for me to use for our monthly newsletters. I often bring this home with me to take pictures of the kids or other things I might be doing....

The Sony FD-91 is a pleasure to use ...

by NZ9E , Jul 31 '00
Pros: Fantastic lens, easy to get to manual operation
Cons: Floppy doesn't hold much, low light photos can be grainy (but often fixable)
The Sony FD-91 is a pleasure to use. I've used other digital cameras, and my biggest complaint was that they don't "feel" (or "look" for that matter) anything like a good 35mm camera ... but the FD-91 has changed all of that. While I...

FD91 great for the web

by thewebguy , Dec 05 '99
Pros: Convenience, ease of use, zoom lens
Cons: Bulky, expensive, suffers in low light
Digital cameras have come a long way in the past few years but they certainly aren’t for everyone. However if you’re into the web either via email or your own web page they are definitely worth considering. And if you’re in real estate or auto sales...

Versatile and Easy to Use

by btemple , Dec 19 '99
Pros: features, ease of use, use of floppy disk
Cons: none I can think of
I had the opportunity to borrow a Sony FD91 from my office for a few weeks and was hooked. It was easy to use having so many automatic features, I was disappointed I'd just replaced my defunct 35mm last Christmas. I used it for photos of equipment for...

Well, I was impressed!

by dbandill , Oct 07 '00
Pros: Lightweight, good quality picture, no special software.
Cons: Somewhat complicated to set up, but not bad.
But then, I'm no real camera expert. Usually when you get beyond the Polaroid One-Step, I'm lost! And forget about all those fancy 35mm thingys! I'm totally lost then!! But when it comes to digitals, I've learned a bit. I never have been one for...

My final answer: I love this camera!

by RichSAP , May 23 '00
Pros: Takes great photographs; Many advanced features; Feels like an SLR in your hands; Superior Optical zoom lens
Cons: Pricy for a mass-produced item; Lack of self timer for MPEGs; Location of Zoom switch
I started out in photography when I was a kid with one of those $14.95 cameras that used 126mm film. From there I progressed to (cheap) 35mm, then to (expensive) 35mm and, with a modestly price Ricoh, digital photography.

Take it from a beginner, this

by Michael.Alvord , Sep 27 '00
Pros: Light weight, killer zoom, high quality pics, video capability
Cons: Not so good in low light, may be bulky for smaller hands
I am a fair weekend photographer, but had no experience with digital photography. The main attraction of the FD-91 was the floppy disk storage system. To be able to take large quantities of pictures without taking out a mortgage was tempting.

Any Sony Digital works!

by minamarie , Jul 31 '01
Pros: This camera is a great step up from the Sony MVC 71 series
Cons: Like anything else, it's behind technology once you walk out the store.
The first digital camera I had experience with was the Sony MVC 71; from there I moved to the MVC-91; and now, I have added the Sony MVC-CD1000 to my digital arsenal.Even at all of their original prices, they have more than earned their salt.

Not Bad, But Film Still Rules

by Mummolo , Mar 06 '00
Pros: Fun to play with, bells and whistles
Cons: Just not the same as film
I'm a news reporter/photographer and I've been using this camera quite a lot lately. Here's the Pros and Cons;

The Pros - It feels like a camera, and that's important. You want a good weight which will give you stability and confidence in...
