Pros: Lot of menus, perfect image, grate sound
Cons: No video record compatibility
Is you are asking this to any one that have Direct TV, the answer is YES!

The packages I select include all channels, except Pay Per View and Playboy. But the advantage that I don’t need to go more to rent any movie plus the lot of audio...

Better than cable?

by ampmom , Aug 11 '00
Pros: small, easy to conceal, easy installation, lots of channel choices
Cons: goes "out" occasionally, so does regular cable
My husband and I were tired of paying too high cable bills, so we decided to try the Hughes dish system and DirectTV. Several people in our neighborhood had it, so we figured it couldn't be all that bad.

One of the downsides we only thought...

Cons: Storms can be problematic and support is hit or miss

Pros: Easy to use and set up
Cons: none that I can think of

hughs sat

by leo1 , Dec 14 '99
Pros: excellent picture and sound
Cons: Owner must purchase the equipment
Satellite TV is clearer, less expensive, and affords a better selection than cable TV including The New Digital Cable.
Direct TV is Broadcasting Digital Dolby on some of their movies and Starz is broadcasting some ac-3 Dolby.

THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS!!

by raymond689 , Dec 16 '99
Pros: Ease of operation
Cons: none, this is an excellent system
First, not only do I own five of these units (which I have in my rental properties) but I also have three 2532 systems (gold) in my own home. The Hughes DSS systems are second to none. Not only do you have 24-hour customer service and support but you...

Satellite vs Cable

by carter56 , Dec 14 '99
Pros: Quality programming for the cost
Cons: Heavy rain or snow will block the signal for a while
We bought a Hughes satellite system about 3 years ago. One of the main reasons was the rise in cost of cable. We look at tv programing in a whole different way now. We are using DTV for our programs. We were a little lost at working with a new system,...

Pros: Superb picture & sound, great service, and of course...NFL SUNDAY TICKET!!!
Cons: Can be expensive for premium packages

Pros: An alternate to cable, also allows people in rural areas to have a large range of viewing channels
Cons: Depending on the package, it can be very pricey, plus adverse weather effects your viewing and sound quality isnt as good as good be
A few months ago we made our upgrade from Primestar to Directv. The switch over was quick, efficient and painless. The service men wasted no time or energy and had our switch over done in approximately one hour.

Prior to the switchover, we...

Cable can't even come close.

by game_monkey , Jul 07 '00
Pros: Many channels you wont get with Cable.
Cons: When it rains, you gotta find something else to do.
I bought this product because my current cable provider sucks. Some channels have the volume set to high and others are too low. It was particularly noticeable during sports events. Channel reception wasn't all that great either.

SO, I decided...

Pros: Extra channels for less than cable
Cons: Signal problems during storms
As someone that has had cable television, no cable television, and now a satellite dish, I have to say that so far the dish is the best. I have access to more channels in the basic packages than I did with Warner Cable, and don't have to deal with the...

by lohave , Feb 20 '00
Pros: Almost Unlimited Channels
Cons: No Local Television Stations
I live in a community of about 3000 people and we sublet our cable from a major city nearby. Our rates kept going up and our channels going down. So I finally relented and got Direct TV. I have to tell you that it has lots of great options for family...
