Pros: Plays everything, quiet! Cons: Remote is not backlit
I bought the Pioneer DVL-919 because the local library has a huge collection of Laserdiscs. Of course, the DVD and CD section of the player is what I use most!
I got a huge markdown to $550 because it was the last one they had and they were...
Pros: Plays Laserdiscs and DVDs Cons: Region I only DVD player
I bought this unit on sale for $999 and I love it! I have about 80 laserdiscs and I wanted to try out DVDs too and this unit fit the bill perfectly! I have an old Pioneer laserdisc player that I'm going to sell now that I have this great unit! It even...
If, like me, you prefer the qualify of LD over tape, you probably are running into the same problem people with large collections of old vinyl records ran into with the coming of CDs. Like CDs vs LPs, DVDs offer great quality and a much more compact...
I purchased this LD/DVD player to replace my aging and crippled LD player. Since I own almost 100 LDs and didn't want to buy them all over again on DVD since there isn't too much of a quality difference, I was in the market for an LD player. Not willing...
Pros: GREAT image and sound, looks amazing Cons: price is a little steep
For nearly 3 months, I had been longing for this player. I have many laserdiscs and DVDs, but I had no LD or DVD player (how's that for being smart, hahahah). Last December, I finally had raised enough money to buy this mammoth of a DVD player, and...
Pros: Plays both DVD's and LD's ; Great Picture Cons: Certain DVD's have sound sync problem
I kind of ran into this item by mistake. I was looking for a DVD/LD player. I had a older Pioneer LD player and was happy with it. I was walking through the store and the salesperson asked if I needed any help. I told her what I was looking for and...
Pros: Crystal clear picture, super sound, S-Video hookup Cons: Noisy at startup and when changing sides on laser discs, miniscule remote buttons
Since I collect laser discs and my old machine bit the dust after 15 years I invested in this combo player, and am not sorry that I did. The picture is dramatic crystal clear with no flaking or speckling, dramatic sound compared to the old machine and...
Pioneer's DVL-919 is one of the few laserdisc (LD) players available to hard core videophiles, some of whom still prefer the analog-video format to DVD's compressed digital video. Fortunately, the DVL-919 accommodates both formats. If you're searching...
Pros: Versatile, Easy to Setup, Performance, Build Cons: Dimensionally Too Long, Quite Expensive
Bought this product as I need a DVD player to complete a home theatre package for my new home. Choose this model as I thought it might be handy to be able to play LDs, as I thought there still might be a chance that I'll have to watch LDs. Turned out...

Pros: DTS decoding for both laserdiscs and DVDs. Component video output. Cons: The price is the only con. But come on, its a laserdisc player.
I just purchased this LD/DVD combo player and could not be more thrilled with its performance. Being the proud ownder of over 400 laserdiscs, I had to keep the format alive and well. So I replaced my DVL-700 with this model. It is truly great with its component video outputs, and finally, DTS decoding for both laserdiscs AND DVDs. The color looks great even on my old Discovision discs! A truly great player; a must own for any laserdisc entusiast, as it is probably the last North American player you will ever see grace the market.
We've combined two great video formats into one machine. The DVL-919 plays your collection of DVD's AND LaserDiscs with high-end DA converters video...More at Abe's Of Maine
