Pros: Professional appearance, sturdy, wide temperature range. Cons: limited shelving flexibility
A recent kitchen remodel project left me with a gaping hole where the dishwasher was removed. This unit provided a perfect solution. With its 23.9" width and 34.5" height, it fits perfectly in the same cutout as a standard dishwasher. The sleek tinted...

Too pricey and temperature control is awful
by hillsk ,Sep 27 '04
Pros: It's classy, a perfect size, and gets lots of oohs and aahs from visitors. Cons: Too expensive. Doesn't cool drinks as expected.
I absolutely love the way this unit looks in my kitchen. It's classy, a perfect size, and gets lots of oohs and aahs from visitors. What's wrong then? First, it's way too expensive for the limited benefit it provides. And, like the comments posted on 7/9/04 by 'ciderhill', this beverage center does not keep drinks cold enough to serve at typical/proper temperatures. When I've tried to make the unit colder by adjusting the temperature control, cans that are too close to the back of the compartment start to freeze and burst. There's nothing like a few burst soda cans oozing all over the place to put a damper on your day! GE has been of no help at all in resolving the issue of temperature control. If I have to store soda in my refrigerator so it is the correct drinking temperature, then why did I pay $1000 for this beverage center? I am really disappointed and also feel I got taken.

Not cold enough
by heychey ,Jul 17 '06
Pros: Looks cool Cons: Doesn't make your drinks cold.
I can't believe this fridge only gets down to 45 degrees. We wanted a place to put all of our beer and soda so it doesn't take up space in the refrigerator. No one ever told me that this beverage center would not get the drinks cold enough. I feel completely ripped off. Now I have a space in my custom kitchen for this appliance and I don't want it. Why buy it if it doesn't get your drinks cold??? Makes no sense to me.

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU WANT COLD DRINKS!!
by ciderhill ,Jul 09 '04
Pros: It looks good. Cons: It doesn't actually make drinks cold!!! Keep your money.
Do not buy this if you want cold drinks!!!! We installed this $1000 piece of junk yesterday. Initially it made our beverages cold, but today they are warm. I called GE Monogram support and they told me, and I quote "If you want cold drinks, put them in your refrigerator. The beverage center is only a "cooler" and it will not make your drinks cold." If it doesn't make your beverages cold enough to drink then why do they call it a beverage center? If I just wanted a wine cooler I could've gotten one for $800 less. We don't even drink wine. They also make a wine fridge so I don't see why they call this a beverage center, but it only gets cold enough to chill wine. I am returning this as soon as possible and I feel taken advantage of by GE. We bought this to put drinks in and take pressure off of the refrigerator. It doesn't work that way. PLEASE, do not buy one of these if you want cold drinks!!

Best used for Wine
by cstruck ,Nov 27 '06
Pros: Looks nice Cons: Poor cooling, NOT a Beverage Center as advertised.
I've had one since 2000 and it will freeze any thing on the 2 top shelves when turned up past 5. It's a real pain to clean after a can or two have gone off. I originally bought it to take the load off the refrigerator but it works better as a wine cooler. I wouldn't buy another one and my whole kitchen is comprised of Stainless Steel GE products. Very disappointed with GE on this one.

Insufficient Cooling, Poor Choice
by dsmitho ,Nov 24 '06
Pros: Nice looking, reversible door. Cons: Only cools to 40 degrees, you have to finish the wood drawer fronts yourself.
I bought the under the counter beverage center and it only cools to 40 degrees. It looks like they took the wine refrigerator, put some shelves in it and called it a beverage center. I contacted GE and they said it was only designed to go to 40 degrees F. My Samsung goes down to 34, My Sanyo goes to 34, and the Kitchen Aid I looked at goes to 34. None of the GE documentation or product information disclosed this feature. Some beer manufacturers recommend storing their beer at 35 degrees.

It isn't cold enough!
by suse7054 ,Jul 27 '05
Pros: Like the appearance. Cons: Cooling ability and need more variety in shelf-bottle accommodation
Have had our Beverage Center for one week. Purchased a thermometer to check settings and with the dial on max cool, top shelf reads 40 degrees, next shelf, 45. Wish it could accommodate larger bottles of wine on one of the wine drawers on the bottom, too.
