  • VT 200 assembly and first use notes

    Sep 06 '05
Pros: Price, capacity, ease of move into condo, fun factor, extras.
Cons: Finish blemish (minor), maybe a miscalibrated sensor

Summary: I decided to purchase my first wine refrigerator (or cellar) because I'm moving into a condo, with no cool basement, and didn't want to rack my collection in the coat closet. :-) For my collection and tastes (~100 bottles, storage needed for years ... read more

  • 2 cooling units failed - company unhelpful

    Apr 21 '09
Pros: holds many bottles, looks decent enough to put in the living or dining room.
Cons: cooling unit noisy, requres replacement every 2 years.

Summary: I bought this wine cellar in 2005, and less than two years later, the cooling unit stopped cooling sufficiently.  It cooled partially, but it would not achieve the programmed temperature of 57 degrees (with ambient temperature in the 70s).  The ... read more

  • Don't bother

    Jul 05 '07
    Pros: None
Cons: Doesn't work at all, unless in a room that is already very cold.

Summary: I've had this unit for 3 years. It worked ok for a year an a half or so, but then the cooling unit started to fail. With no warning, the temperature inside the unit rose to above 65 degrees all the time. Worse, when the unit is not actively cooling, it ... read more

  • Vintage Keeper 200

    Jan 09 '05
Pros: Cools well and stable when it works
Cons: Not reliable for a long period of time.

Summary: My wife bought me a Vintage Keeper 200 in August of 2000. It came well packed and was easy to assemble. The next summer I noticed it was stuck on 85 F even though I had it set to 55 F. I called and they said that the temperature control unit was fried ... read more

  • Vintage Keeper 200

    Apr 23 '04
    Pros: Value
Cons: Lack of manufacturer responsiveness to problems

Summary: Having had a few bottles of wine go bad, I began the search for a wine cellar for my home. The internet search kept leading me to the Vintage Keeper 200 as the best value for the price. The catch was the I would need to assemble the product. The product ... read more

  • Vintage Keeper 200 is a Keeper

  • Cost effective, serviceable first cellar

    Nov 28 '00
    Pros: Great value, high capacity
Cons: Not the most powerful cooling.

Summary: I bought this cellar because my collection was growing too large to keep in the 16 bottle holder I built and kept in a sealed cardboard box. Before you laugh, please realize that it is nearly impossible to have good wine storage as a poor college ... read more

  • cooling unit has failed repeatedly

    Aug 09 '11
    Pros: easily transported and assembled
Cons:   The koolR Nuvo refrigeration unit  lasts no longer than 1-2 years.

Summary: An affordable, easily transportable cabinet that can be assembled by one person.  It can do the job for awhile but beware the cooling

  • Cooling Units Are Garbage

    Aug 12 '09
    Pros: Price
Cons: Unreliable cooling unit, poor customer service, lousy warranty

Summary: I was reading recent reviews and it appears that I am not the only one who has had many problems with the cooling unit.  I am on my third, and now it has failed and needs to be replaced.  Customer service doesn't seem to want to get back to me,

  • Cooling units fail

    Jan 05 '09
Pros: The cabinet has held up well. The cooling unit was relatively easy to replace.
Cons: Cooling units fail every three years and cost $300. Do the math.

Summary: The original box arrived with a cracked glass front door. Eventually was replaced, but an insurance guy had to come out first (big pain). Bigger problem: the cooling units do not last long--only 3 years (usually less). At over $300 (w tax and shipping),

  • Cooling Unit Problems

    Jul 30 '08
Pros: Assembly is easy; all went together as per instructions.
Cons: Cooling units fail after 15-18 months.

Summary: I have replaced the cooling unit 3 times in 5 years. Never under warranty. The cooling units do not last. I am trying to determine if I can mount a Breezeaire unit somehow. Twice the cost but the warranty is better and I know people who have used them
