| UncleMurl's Full Review: Screwpull Lever |
I don't personally own a Screwpull Lever, but many of my friends and family do. I have never seen a broken cork or any other cork mishap (outside of improper wine storage) from this device and it gets my blessing for design, ease of use and all around coolness. Considering that wine corking technology hasn't changed significantly for a few hundred years, this gadget jumps eons ahead of conventional corking. Unfortunately, the price is pretty steep (main reason why I don't have one) and it is rather large and clunky. Either way, this is a must have for any wine enthusiast and it is a lot of fun to play with. The extra bonus: the more wine you open, the more you get to drink!!
On a more practical note, if I am serving a meal and would like to impress a certain lady friend with presentation of wine, I prefer the traditional cork screws. They are a smaller and will lay on the table w/o drawing attention to them and detracting from the ambiance, as well as you do not need to set the bottle on the table (a mistake many food servers make.) All in all the screwpull Lever is an excellent buy or gift for the gadget lover and/or wine enthusiast.
