Pros: honest no-nonsense approach to investing Cons: the web site has a more "commercial" feeling than before

Pros: Good information and education available Cons: Differing opinions on the bulletin board could confuse the novice.
Anyone who has read the Fools books are aware that the Fools are not typical of the average American. They seem come from a fairly well to do background, with opportunities the average American does not have available to them. Due to this background,...

Pros: investment strategies, specials, news Cons: not too much individual stock analysis
The Motley Fool website is great place for anyone with any money in the markets. I have been going to this site daily for about the past year, and it has done me good. When I first started investing money about a year ago, the Motley Fool helped me get...
What I like most about this site is not the actual site itself. I really enjoy having an e-mail every morning that gives me timely financial news. I can then dig further by clicking on stories that take me to their site.
I am a total beginner in the world of high finance and investing. The closest I've ever come to stocks is watching the movie WallStreet! So where do I begin I sat and pondered one day. Well Motley Fool.com seemed as good a place as any to start. ...

Pros: A comprehensive source of news, information, and tips every investor should know. Cons: Lack of objectivity at times. The Fools give tips like the Wise they abhor.

Pros: much good information Cons: doesn't leave me feeling confident somehow

The Motley Fool is a great site for beginning investors, thus giving a foundation for investment strategies. They stress holding on to good companies no matter what. The cost of day trading is high and can be very risky for the beginner. Eventually,...
Pros: well written content Cons: hard to navigate, find your way around
I'm no usability engineer, but I know what I like and I don't like how this site is laid out. What could have been an awful user experience is just made bad by the incredibly good content scattered throughout the site. Problem is, it's hard to get to...
Pros: Good induction to the basics Cons: Little advanced material
One of the first things you will notice as you start on the Motley Fool home page is a distinct difference in approach over other financial web sites. That would be the picture of a Fool. But unlike the expected imagery you might conjure in your mind,...
Pros: Solid, well-written, and interesting basic financial information. Very good message boards (I'll write about these separately) Cons: Hypocritical criticism of the financial establishment. Nearly cult-like atmosphere.
Fools, they call themselves, inspired by Shakespeare's court jesters. Instead of kings, the Motley Fool's targets are full-service brokers, financial advisers, the mainstream press, and all other purveyors of conventional financial wisdom, who the...
Pros: Great information, stock quotes, commentary, timely. Cons: Lots of annoying pop-ups. Occasional quirks/downtime.
Being an avid stock-market fan I subscribe to a plethora of websites; some useful, some not. Fool.com is one of those that falls into the first category. I have been using Fool.com since mid June '01 and have found their webpage very helpful for advice...
Pros: Wonderful marketing Cons: Not so sure the substance of the site is up to par
Out of all of the financial websites this is the one that I find to be most needlessly hyped. Essentially, the Motley Fool site has managed to gain legions of fans because they are very good at marketing themselves. Now this is not a crime, but some of...
Pros: Free financial information Cons: Cutesy commentary, poorly organized
The Motley Fool was one of the earliest financial websites on the web and the only I know of that is famous for it's sense of humor. The light-hearted advice is new twist on staid, boring financial websites, but it rubs me the wrong way. Although I enjoy...
Pros: An entertainment company, just minting money by selling books and services to "loyal" followers Cons: Too afraid to compare last 3 yrs, last 5 yrs data on a regular basis
Motley Fools does not share their last 1 year, last 3yrs, last 5yrs, last 10 yrs data for Rule Breaker strategy. They only share YTD and "since inception" data. Which is misleading to most of the investors. Rule breaker portfolio is essentially the...

GOOD LUCK TRYING TO CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION by jjjerryh ,Feb 27 '06
Pros: Informative Cons: Worthless customer service -- especially if you need to cancel.
Beware of the 30 day trial membership. Good luck trying to cancel. There is no option in their menu, and after 3 days, they still have not responded to my inquiries.
Unprofessional and exaggerated stock opinions, racist trash talks by foreversoldier ,Aug 05 '09
Pros: Good for pass time. Cons: Too much racial hatred from the publisher.
The editor of this site gives many unprofessional and exaggerated stock opinions to catch people eyes. I am disappointed at many racist remarks published on this site primarily targeted towards Chinese. The site feels more like a tabloid news paper than anything else. Not worth the subscription fee.
Motley Fool Stock Advisor by rileydoon ,Jun 12 '07
Pros: Never had opportunity to adequately evaluate. Cons: Never fulfilled offer and no communication - felt like bait and switch.
I signed up for Stock Advisor and was willing to pay the higher fee - everything looked good - they had been sending me emails about it and I had been aware of it for years.
However, the materials they offered to attract new members never arrived - several books and booklets, the titles of which had caught my attention.
Despite multiple email attempts, I was never able to get the materials, or indeed an actual email response responding to my concerns. The communication and customer service in reconciling this issue wasn't just awful, it was nonexistent.
They basically never fulfilled their offer and it felt like a bait and switch - very irritating.
I did ask for my money back, which they did give back promptly - apparently there is a mechanism in place for that.
Motley Fool Stock Advisor by hobiesailor ,Aug 18 '09
Pros: -none. find a more honest site for your investing advice Cons: -poor customer service
Overall a negative experience. Don't be a fool and don't join.
Subscription is very difficult to cancel. If you call them, you are put on hold for about a minute, then disconnected and asked to call back at a later time. There is no link or instructions on how to cancel the subscription on the website. Once they have your credit card, it will automatically charge $150 per year. They have many ways to get your money and constantly send you must-have reports that cost extra (usually $100+). Don't miss the next big thing...etc.
Epinions.com periodically updates pricing and product information from third-party sources, so some information may be slightly out-of-date. You should confirm all information before relying on it.
