Fool and Proud of it!

by colovion , Jun 22 '00
Pros: The best financial site... EVER!
Cons: Some posters to the boards are fools (small f)
The Motley Fool is special. Why? It tells people that you do not have to have an MBA to invest. You don't even need a BA. You don't even need to have graduated from high school! Why is that shocking? Because the "professional money...

Fun and Folly in the Stock Market

by WritingLife , Jun 02 '00
Pros: Abundant information for the do-it-yourself investor
Cons: Dave Gardner does get a wee bit... opinionated!
"Educate, Amuse, Enrich" is the motto of the Motley Fool, and this site delivers on all counts. For those who have thought about investing in stocks but didn't know how to get started, the Fool offers a wealth of advice from their own experts,...

How the Fool helped a young'un

by dianakalt , May 31 '00
Pros: Information on a very wide range of topics.
Cons: Site is very large; it would be very difficult to research all of it.
I found the Motley Fool about 10 months ago, shortly after I graduated from college and began work as an IT consultant. I was 24 at the time. I was very concerned about both my short and long-term financial outlook and looking for a place to get...

They are No One's Fool

by Santo10 , May 21 '00
Pros: Good advice, good discussion, good explanations, member feedback, etc.
Cons: Only updated nightly
The Motley Fool, in my opinion, is the best financial website for the average investor.

I discovered the Motley Fool about 3 years ago while surfing the net. At that time, they still had a relatively small website. What quickly grabbed me,...

Are you foolish or Foolish?

by fixitwoman , Sep 11 '01
Pros: Wealth of financial information at your fingertips. Excellent at removal of troll posts on boards.
Cons: All message boards must be threaded or unthreaded. Hard to find most boards.
I've always considered myself to be money savvy. I clipped coupons, bought generic brands and lived by a budget. I stumbled across Fool.com when another website offered to pay me to become a member of the Fool. Pretty savvy, huh?

Finding...

Fools are not average

by dccarney , May 07 '00
Pros: Good information and education available
Cons: Differing opinions on the bulletin board could confuse the novice.
Anyone who has read the Fools books are aware that the Fools are not typical of the average American. They seem come from a fairly well to do background, with opportunities the average American does not have available to them. Due to this background,...

Financial information for you and me

by mglowacz , Jan 22 '01
Pros: Free content. Doesn't overwhelm you. Easy to read, humorous. Explains with examples.
Cons: Sometimes don't know where to go next (not necessarily bad).
Fool.com was one of those web sites I've heard about here and there from the media and casual conversation. I never visited it until about 3 months ago and have, ever since then, been kicking myself for not doing that sooner. The content is excellent...

Pros: informative, easy to use, and fun to read
Cons: possibly too much info?
I was messing around on my Yahoo! page the other day, and I just happened to click on the link to www.fool.com, the Motley Fool's financial website. I had heard about these two brothers who wear motley bellcaps and supposedly smash market averages...

Easy to understand financial advice

by rfr , Apr 28 '00
Pros: Easy to understand, great community, good advice
Cons: there's so much information there that it's hard to find everything
The Motley Fool web site is the most honest resource on handling money that I have come across. The reason for this is the incredible amount of user participation in the site. Like Epinions.com, Fool.com has so many intelligent people giving their view...

by delordra , Dec 10 '00
Pros: Something for everyone...even poor college students!
Cons: Sometimes all the information on the site can be overwhelming
I've been accused of it many times, and I have to admit it's true: I'm a Fool.

I first discovered The Motley Fool when I got a MyPoints email about it around Christmastime last year. At the time, I thought, "I'm a college student. What...
