Pros: Yahoo is an exemplary site that should not go down. Cons: To do this, Yahoo would have to become even more reliable.
I'm sure Yahoo has perfectly good planners and visionaries in its corporate digs so what I am about to say can
probably go down as the superfluous at best.
Or heretical.
This is inspired to some extent by horror stories of...

Pros: Free stuff is good. Cons: Nonresponsive, cavalier attitude about your money.
Billpay has been a nightmare. I signed up, the first bill that came due failed to produce the requisite reminder. By the time I realized it, it was too late for Yahoo to process the payment. As a result, my payment was difficult to make on time, necessitating a call to the company I owed, giving them my checking account info., personal information, etc. Yahoo's response was that I should check my reminders and make sure they were right. I did so, and there was no problem on my end. I told Yahoo, and their response was that this is not a Yahoo BillPay problem, but rather Yahoo Finance's responsibility. The exact email read, "Thank you for writing. The payment reminder function is not a feature of Yahoo! Bill Pay. For assistance with your inquiry, please contact Yahoo! Finance at the following address: finance-admin@yahoo-inc.com"
This non-answer is not acceptable, and smells of buck-passing. This is your money. You should not risk one dime on a service that appears not too terribly concerned with your money, potential late fees, etc.
I would avoid the Billpay, and stick to what doesn't cost anything, and services that do not endanger your wallet.
I've emailed yahoo about the problem with the charts which is 1 -2 minutes delay. But so far they just promised to fix it and never get it done.I pay $9.95/month for nothing.
New charts need more explanation by woodland518 ,Dec 14 '06
Pros: Nice looking, fast, no apparent bugs Cons: Inadequate documentation
I just tried this out. Several years ago, it seemed like there were lots of places where you could compare mutual funds using a "growth of 10,000" type chart. This is a really useful approach because the growth is adjusted for dividends or capital distributions.
For me, I'm investing long term in mutual funds and reinvesting all distributions. It doesn't make sense to compare just prices over, say, 5 years. It does not result in an apples-to-apples comparison.
I can't tell if the new Yahoo Finance charts are doing true comparisons, or just comparing prices. The documentation does not explain.
Epinions.com periodically updates pricing and product information from third-party sources, so some information may be slightly out-of-date. You should confirm all information before relying on it.
