Pros: Easy to find people talking about news and finance Cons: Same as discussing current events in a Wal-Mart
Summary: Well, I'll confess that I check in on those Yahoo! message boards from time to time. That's been a constant source of amusement during the current war we've found ourselves in and a good way to see what people thought about the miserable terrorist ... read more

Pros: Large number of stocks and posters, updated news Cons: SPAM, name calling, a lack of meaningful discussion on stocks.
Summary: When I was a kid growing up, my parents would go out every Saturday night to have a date night without the kids. We didn’t have a lot of money back then, so every weekend, my sister and I were treated to a night of SPAM and tater tots. We loved it. ... read more

Pros: A virtual soapbox where one can voice their honest opinion, easy to use. No cost. Cons: Can be hostile. Opinions often have nothing to do with subject matter. Questionable censorship.
Summary: While I often enjoy bawdy humor and total honesty at that, I find the Yahoo! Message Boards to be too much to handle. William Golding's novel Lord of the Flies and Shirley Jackson's short story The Lottery somehow come to mind. I'm ... read more

Pros: The boards are generally fast loading and efficient. Cons: It's a breeding pool for every scamming and spamming doofus in the cyber-universe
Summary: The BOTTOMLINE
Let me start off with the bottomline: AVOID the Yahoo Finance message boards like the plague. Worthless messages multiply there by the hour like mold on old cheese. It's the supreme waste of time, effort and ... read more

Pros: fast, wide audience, knowledge, updating, easy to read, ignore button Cons: only 1 message at a time; too much spam
Summary: Yahoo's message boards are the best. In fact, every time there's a defamation suit about a CEO or company being maligned, it's always taking place on Yahoo's turf. There's a reason for that. All eyes are on Yahoo's Boards. The same can't be said for ... read more

Pros: Insider and Profile Data. Cons: Message Boards are like everyones; the good, the bad, and the ugly!
Summary: Yahoo's message boards are like everyone elses so reader beware! There's just no way around it, those who post on a message board have some purpose and their motivation usually unfolds into a clear enough picture for even the most casual of observers ... read more

Pros: Many different opinions Cons: Many opinions are misleading or downright lies!
Summary: The Yahoo message boards should be taken with a mountainful of salt. Most of the information there is pure hyperbole. The average board there probably contains about 10% substance, 70% spam, and 20% outright lies. Do not trust any information on the ... read more

Pros: Free and fast to navigate and download. Cons: Useless content by a significant number of useless participants.
Summary: Well I finally did it!
I had previously thought of reviewing the Yahoo! Finance Message boards to give them the inferior rating that I thought they deserved.
What held me back was this gut feeling that I would be a hypocrite. ... read more

Summary: One of the most annoying things about Message Boards is that you'll always find spammers advertising their own sites and sometimes, even other products. Just remember that there are many mercenaries in the financial field out there!
