It's one thing to be harassed if your payment is late, but it's quite an interesting, and extremely annoying, experience to be harassed when you're NOT late. I have never made a late payment, but Countrywide is an absolute nightmare. My payment is not late until the 16th of each month, but the "debt collection" calls start on the 3rd each month, 13 days before I'm actually late! They have called me at work as well. It is a nightmare. I have complained, threatened, etc, but they keep on calling. In my 50 years, I've never heard of a company treating its good customers this way!

I intend to broadcast Countrywide's harassing practice everywhere I can. No one should be treated this way. This company either needs to make changes immediately, or they need to go absolutely belly-up. I am going to do whatever I can to make sure one of these things happens!

We had a particular dealing with the local mortgage brokers here in the Houston area. I will leave names out to be fair.
First thing is first, we dont like being left in the dark and staring at the walls until closing day comes only to HOPE things are finished. We would call every other day on things, when we had questions, or had info to give them. She NEVER EVER EVER returned a phone call OR e-mail. We even dealt with her receptionist who answers with a "yes" In an angry tone.
Finally my wife got ahold of her when she just wanted to know if our appraisal had been ordered. Just a yes or no.
Then when she talked to her, my wife got treated like a little kid. They have horrible attitudes, and "oops i need to re-do that" happened more than once. That pushed our closing date
back due to incompitence.

Pros: NONE WHAT-SO-EVER
Cons: BIG RIP-OFF AND CON ARTISTS

TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED COUNTRYWIDE LENDING PRACTICES, THEY ARE EXAGGERATED AND MIS-REPRESENT THEMSELVES JUST TO STUFF THEIR OWN POCKETS AND SCREW THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. MY ADVICE IS TO KEEP ON SHOPPING AROUND FOR BETTER DEALS AND FORGET THEIR STUPID TELEVISON COMMERCIALS WHICH ARE BY THE WAY ARE SO DAMN FREQUENT IT IS SO ANNOYING. WORD OF THE WISE. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH COUNTRYWIDE SO THAT THEY CAN GO BANKRUPT AND OUT OF BUSINESS.

Pros: Processed my payments correctly so far (no payments lost or not credited to my account)
Cons: Bad phone system, bad customer service, greedy on refinance.

I've had a 30 yr. fixed mortgage with them for 4 years, always paid on time, not trouble, they always credit my payment to the account. 

But now I want to refinance.  I see that interest rates are 5.01% right now, so I fill out an online application.  First, cust service says my SSN isn't on the account.  Then another rep says it is.  Finally I get to a 4th rep who says they can get me a new loan at 5 3/8%, after paying $3,500 closing costs.  I wonder if this is correct - that's a higher closing cost than the original mortgage.  I mention shopping around and the rep says go for it, have a good one.

Cons: NOTHING--AVOID THIS COMPANY

I SPEND OVER $36 000 PER YEAR GIVING THEM MY HARD EARNED MONEY IN THE FORM OF MORTGAGE PAYMENTS. i had one late fee due to a misunderstanding about my enrollment in the "automatic checking account deduction program." i tried to resolve this matter via the email service but was instead given robot like responses from the email customer service and a patronizing response from a service manager on the phone.

if this company nickels and dimes you out of a $95 late fee given that you pay over $36 000 per year, is this company worth doing business with???

TAKE MY ADVICE AND AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!!
