As safe as using a chainsaw!

E-filing your taxes this year? I don't know if that is so smart after all. I would give it a couple of years if I were you.
Typically the government is the last to get all of the new technology. This is probably also true with the internet and e-mail. I wouldn't go out and assume that Uncle Sam has a site so secure that the best hackers can't get into it.
After all, how fast do you need to get your money back. There isn't much difference in turnaround times between e-filing and mailing it in. The post office will get the information there in a few days as opposed to a few seconds. This means that you might get your money back a week or so earlier through e-filing.
So, all in all, I would recommend filing your taxes the old way this year at least. If you are like me, you don't completely trust the government when they tell you that everything is ok.
