E-TRADE, though #1 could be a little bit better to me than it really is. One very good thing about it is that it is very easy to use. The commissions are a little bit too high for me($14.95 for standard trades), and the site can be slow at times. I still recommend E-TRADE to stock newbies. It has a nice interface, and it is very easy to buy and sell stocks. They don't use any big words that would intimidate and confuse people with little or no experience. If you're a major stock investor, I would recommend DLJ Direct or Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. TD Waterhouse has a very low commission, and I would recommend that over E-TRADE.
