Visa Check cards are my life!Feb 20 '00 Write an essay on this topic.As a young person just starting out in the real world (well, ok, not exactly just starting out but relatively...) I have learned the pitfalls of plastic. I've also discoverd that I have the inability to save. Which leads me to believe that I should never have any other credit card other than the Visa check card that my bank supplied me when I opened my account there. First of all, if I run out of money in my account, I can't charge those pair of shoes that I've been drooling over. End of story. Which also means that I'll be searching my room for loose change to pay for gas, but it's better than getting charged interest. I've only bounced 3 checks in the past 2 years so if I stick to what I have now (plus those lottery winnings I keep praying for) I should never have to worry about shouldering any credit card debts. The down side is that if I'm stuck in a bind with no money, I'm out of luck. It's either bounce a check to pay for that flat tire or beg a friend to wire some cash. Both experiances I have had the pleasure of not having to endure, but I know the day will come when I'll be stuck for cash. After all, the life of a student leads to a perpetually empty wallet. So, I believe that Check cards are better than credit cards, especially for those who have no idea what to do with that whole $7 an hour that they earn in their part time job.  |
