Try as you might, you'd be hard pressed to find a more complete or helpful website for today's investor. SmartMoney typifies why the internet is so powerful and why people like myself simply can't get enough.
The site provides a wealth of useful information for any individual looking to reach new financial goals or protect what they already have. Best of all, the vast majority of the information is FREE! From insightful articles, to stock quotes and expert advice pertaining to money, this site has it all. In fact, I've been using it for more than a year and still haven't scratched the surface of all its capabilities. If you're thinking that information overload is a possibility, you're absolutely right! Still, if you surf wisely, you'll be a sharper investor after using this tool.
The site itself is very slick and obviously professionally done. Navigation is pretty simple and the information flows real well. The only design drawbacks are that the site is prone to clutter and sometimes pages load slowly.
By far my favorite area of SmartMoney is the Fund Analyzer which can be found under the Mutual Fund tab. This interactive tool allows the user to put in a number of mutual fund symbols and compares each on everything from SmartMoney grade to its 5 year average return. This was an awesome resource when I recently had to revamp my 401k. Give it a shot and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Given the growing lack of financial wisdom in today's society, it surprises me that more people don't turn to the likes of SmartMoney more often. For me, it's a daily education.
