| avi1020's Full Review: Quote.com's IPO Edge |
(The name of this epinion has nothing to do with the amount of stars that you can give a product, read on and you’ll understand)
If you follow the link from epinions you will not find anything. It will send you to Quote.com’s home page. You have to click on the IPO tab. These are some features that I like about their IPO site.
Recent Headlines
In this section you find the latest IPO news. They usually give you two or three articles but you can click on the link that says “More Headlines” and you are given the 10 latest IPO news events. All the news is from Reuters. They even tell you how many words are in the article. I don’t know the reason for this, but they do it anyway.
Some other sections:
Hot IPOs-Quote.com gives you some (6 or 7) stocks that they believe are “hot.” These stocks are no longer IPOs, they are all on the market and have been for some time. So, don’t think, “Oh look, some new IPOs and they’re hot.” That’s not the case.
Pricings-This is a listings of some current or just passed IPO pricings.
Biggest Gainers- This section gives you the top IPO performers of the day.
Biggest Losers- This section is the exact opposite of the above topic. It gives you the worst performing IPO of the day.
Most Active-This section gives you the most active IPO of the day. Pretty obvious from its name.
Filings-This section gives you the most recent IPO filings.
My favorite thing about this site is-
How they rate IPOs
Quote.com gives you their opinion on every IPO. All you have to do is perform a search on a particular stock symbol or company name and if there is an IPO out there or coming up, they will rate it. They give you their Overall rating. “The overall rating is a technical indication of expected 30-day performance based on our five technical factors: Sentiment, Fundamentals, Market, Size and Deal.”
They also have a point system from –5 (Unfavorable) to +5 (Favorable). The closer to +5 they rate it, the more they think it will do well.
They also give you all the technical stuff, like, who the lead underwriter is, a description of the company, all the financial information you’ll ever want to know about a company. Plus if you don’t understand what a topic is, there is a glossary with as many financial terms as you can think of.
Overall:
I recommend this site to anyone in the market for an IPO. You can do a ton of research and see what they rate a particular IPO.
I do have one problem (same as mnegrin)-who rates the IPOs? I haven’t found a name for them yet but I’m assuming they know more about this topic than I do, so I’ll take their word for it.
