Pros:Great organization
Cons:News on stock quotes is weak

Like the cnn.com website which is a very resource and text oriented, cnnfn.com is similar. It is designed the same way, with little or no changes. So the average cnn.com user, like myself, will feel at home and
at ease in this site.

Intuitive to navigate throughout the site, cnnfn.com is set up in a well-organized pattern. Banner ads are obligatoryily placed on the top of the page, like any other cnn.com page. The top left corner of the pages advertise cnn television programs. Bizbuzz for example, is given attention to.

The left hand side under a large cnnfn, the financial network emblazened under the top left corner's ad space, shows everything that the site has to offer. A great plus for websurfers. I always felt that this was one of cnn.com's strongest features. Its organization is always top-notch. It's information speed is also just as great. With headlines always being displayed with it's respective time.

Within the left hand outline-esque organization, there is embedded in each section a rectangular box to type in stock quotes or to search cnnfn. This is shown in each of the different sections. These sections include: Home, News, Market and Investing, Services, and the Site index.

There are not many advertisements as cnn.com is not loaded with them. But there are many plugs for their television program shows. This is not the least bit annoying. Rather they are informative, though I am not sure I actually have caught one of their financial shows. Instead, I opt for cnbc or bloomberg television.

The news section within the site features stories about companies, Latest news with their respective times, and a Special Report and Features section. The stories are above average, with much of the reporting shorter length and synopses.

The marketing and investing section hosts the stock quotes. I enter a stock quote for webvan group (wbvn), an online grocery store and find the essential information. I find today's high 14 1/2 previous close 14 1/16
today's low 13 7/8 bid 14
today's open 14 11/32 ask 14 1/8
volume 1,595,300 earnings per share Not Avail.
52-week high 34 dividend per share 0.00
52-week low 11 5/8 dividend pay date N/A
P/E ratio 0 ex-dividend date N/A

(This is in fact, a stock that I hold and believe in!)

Also there are various information on search CNNfn, charts, company snapshot, intraday chart, trading overview, broker center, Wall St. research, analysis, competitors, financials, full report, sec filings

But what I find a negative aspect of the quotes are the lack of information about the company. There is no specific information or news that is readily listed. There is "latest news" but this merely shows the latest general news headlines.

Overall, cnnfn.com is a powerful site. It makes me feel at home with the design that mimmicks the cnn.com site. I personally like it but prefer other internet sites that have different content. The site is not visually or chart intensive. But it's content is very approachable and easy to access. The news is provided in a timely fashion without the excess of banner ads that are apparent.
