www.ClarkHoward.comApr 12 '00 (Updated Oct 02 '00) Write an essay on this topic.Have you ever heard of Clark Howard? He is a consumer advocate based in Atlanta, but available to you via radio, TV, or the internet. I've listened to Clark's shows now on the radio for quite some time. I learn something new from him every day. His Internet address is: www.clarkhoward.com You can also find him on WSB AM 750 or WSB-TV in Atlanta. His radio show is syndicated so check your local stations for a time. On the radio show, Clark accepts calls from consumers who have problems of all kinds. One day the problems may be about a "lemon" car, an insurance question, or a credit problem. Over and over, I have heard him great advice to people on numerous subjects. On his website, you will find hundreds of topics, including information on: Buying a house Checking your credit Insurance Long distance calling Wireless phone rate comparisons Car rental Recalls Bankruptcy Education Student Loans 401Ks, IRAs, etc. Rip-offs Teaching your teen about money Much more... Be sure to check Clark's Rolodex for things you may need. Today's question on Clark's site is: "How long do you have to return your new car after purchase?" I thought maybe the answer was 3 days. !WRONG! The answer is 0 - NADA, so you better be sure when you sign your name! Under "Clark Said Today" (April 12), I just found this announcement that may be of interest to you: "New vehicles: Ford will introduce a smaller SUV that should get about 20 miles per gallon. In 2003, Ford plans to bring out a hybrid SUV vehicle that should get 40 mpg. A new and smaller version of the minivan that may seat only four passengers is expected to arrive in 2003. These are small compromises in reducing energy needs and costs." There is a Consumer Action Center composed of over 100 volunteers from more than 50 vocations. "The volunteers staff a busy consumer phone bank which can be reached from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at (404) 892-8227..." I hope that I have piqued your interest enough to check out Clark's online site or to listen to his shows. I really recommend him as a consumer advocate. www.clarkhoward.com I hope epinions.com will soon have Clark's site available to review in a category. In the mean time, I wanted to bring it to your attention because it is so valuable in so many different ways. |
