If you are thinking or already own stock you must visit this site. It has all the information you're going to need to make a smart choice. They offer real time quotes (members only-signup is free), and many other features such as a stock portfolio, a sector tracker (a look at the market leaders) and an investor calendar which alerts you on key events affecting your investments.
On to some specific points of this site.
Tools: Here you can set up 10 portfolios with 30 symbols in each one. I would only need one portfolio, but maybe some people need them all. Here you can also find the Chart Center. This is a pop up window, and here you can view a daily chart or yearly chart. What I like about this option is when I put the mouse over the chart I see the price of the stock and the date pops up on the bottom. This is very helpful because I can see both price and date up to five years ago. This feature takes a few minutes to load, so be patient (25 seconds for a 28.8 modem).
You can also launch a news ticker. Which you can manually update or wait for it to update itself.
Stocks: This is where you can see up to the minute stock quotes on any stock. But you have to be a member for this feature, so sign up, it's free. This page is loaded with information on stocks, IPO's and more. You can see company earnings, and read tons of articles. The articles are to help you, the investor. They tell you their picks for the new year, what stocks they think will do well, and what sector to invest in. The articles are my favorite part of this site, or of any site I’ve seen.
Planning: Planning to buy a house? Car? Want to retire? Do you know which IRA is best? If you want to know about some of these topics, go to this site. They have Internet best buys, which tells you what they think are the best place to get deals on the Internet.
Forums Want to chat about a particular stock? This is a place to express your feelings on stocks, specific sectors, even online brokers.
I recommend this site to any type of investor. It has tons of information, lots of research tools, and message boards to help you invest the smart way.
