| cheburashka's Full Review: Yahoo Finance |
I've been using the Yahoo! Finance site for almost four years now, and having tried many of their competitors, I have to say this is the best overall financial site on the Web right now.
You can get the 15-minute delay quotes, the charts, the top stories, etc. at any of the thousands of sites. Some specialize in news, some a better at custom-made charts, yet others excel at stock-screening or research. Yahoo! Finance brings you the one-stop deal, with most of everything and highly customizable to your preferences. You can choose form five different preset stock views, and then customize any of them. You can see charts for a variety of different duration. You select from a long list of news services/financial websites which you'd like to pull the news articles from. You get profile, research, insider activity, industry ratings and all sorts of fundamental and some technical data, plus message boards. You can set your own highs and lows for your investment, enter the date bought, number of shares, etc., and keep track of all your portfolio(s), getting alerts of the news and new highs/lows.
The only drawback to otherwise very reliable site is that once in a while in high-volume days the quotes might stop updating for a short period of time. Well, Yahoo! is only as good as the market source they pull the data from and all other sites share the same sources anyway.
And best of all, you can't beat the price: it's free, and if you already have Yahoo! account, it's a snap to setup your portfolio and start using the site.
