Establish credit even though you might not need to use it!!

I am currently a college student that somehow has more credit then I even knew about. I only have one credit card but I pay it off every month for the exact amount, which helps! I think the reason why my credit is so good is that when I bought this computer (gateway) I used the payment plan even though I did not need to, i had the money to pay for it. Then once the bank sent me the first bill I paid it off so I would not have to pay the outstanding interest rate that they were charging. They must have reported that to the credit bureaus because now I have no problem getting any credit card that I want or anything else for that matter. Remember I am a college student so I havent tried to get too much (house, etc.)
My point is that credit is very important and will always be used whether you like it or not, so you might as well build up your credit. Instead of paying cash for something put it on your credit card, then save the money and pay it off. Build your credit even though you have the money to pay for it. Just remember not to go overboard, just read some horror stories and you will know why if you dont already.
