I have had a mortgage with Norwest for two years now and I have had nothing but successful encounters with them from the start.
To begin with, their customer service is excellent. There is never a wait time when I have to call in and when I get an operator, they are ALWAYS pleasant and helpful, no matter what kind of mood I may be in. I have had many conversations with Norwest when I was angry about PMI (Principle Mortgage Insurance...a big ripoff in my opinion) and the customer service representative has always been pleasant and never lost her cool with me. That has always calmed me down and I have always expressed my gratitude and apologized.
Norwest offered me an excellent rate on my home mortgage. They met with me and went over all of their different loan types to ensure that they found the one that was best suited for my buy and sell habits. They have also recently introduced bi-weekly payments to help pay your house off faster and pay less interest.
In obtaining my business, Norwest slashed several of their normal fees in half or completely eliminated them to earn my business. They truly worked with me to show that they wanted my business and would value me as a customer. That said alot considering the amount of savings I had when I closed compared to other banks who would not budge on their closing costs.
Overall, Norwest is a very friendly "downhome" type bank. They have a great customer service and loan plan system and they go out of their way to let you know you are a valued customer and that they appreciate your business. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone.
