We had the misfortune to have our mortgage sold to Norwest. I have never dealt with a more incompetent group in my life. Our problems arose when one day in June I got a past due tax bill in the mail. I called Norwest and inquired, weren't our taxes paid from our escrow, that past September? I was assured everything was fine, the tax office made a mistake.
Well, I don't like loose ends so I called the tax office and no the taxes were not paid. In fact the bill was returned to them by Norwest!
After, going through several Norwest supervisors, I find out that they sent a check to an entirely different tax office, to a city I don't live in!
Well, it gets worse, in the end I did all the phone calls, paid my own taxes out of personal account and requested that my escrow be stopped and I handle my own taxes and insurance.
I was told that they will review our balance and acct. we will be notified in 2 months of a decision on the matter.
The next month I get a statement, the escrow amount is gone. I call again and inquire, yes your escrow has been stopped!
We sold the house, we are now with USAA they don't sell mortgages :-)
