Not perfect, but the best you can get for the PS2.

by videogamzrulz , Apr 13 '04
Pros: saves data well, memory never gets erased, light-weight, good quality, nice design, fairly small
Cons: Only 8 MB! My gamecube's card holds 32x as much!; $10-$15
Anyone who owns a next-gen system knows you need to have a memory card. It is just one of those extras that are a MUST. I remember the day I thought I could get away with not having a memory card for my Gamecube. Once you are done playing, you have two ...

Playstation 2 Memory Card: Best Standard Memory Card Out There.

by Alkaiser Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Aug 24 '01
Pros: 8MB of memory...I only need one card for all my games.
Cons: Doesn't come with the machine.
Of all the "memory card" type peripherals for all the consoles, I like the PS2's card the best. The Playstation 1 card had far too little memory, so I bought a 3rd party card.

The Dreamcast's VMU ate batteries like crazy, and on top of that,...

Sony's 8MB Card Brings Good Memories

by hyundai_fan , Jun 23 '04
Pros: Works, never fails on me.
Cons: A little expensive.
Unless you've been in the basement for the past ten years, game companies have made great strides in making sure that the game console can remember everything you do to it so you can pick up where you left off when the time comes to turn off your system. ...

This Little Thing Can Hold More Memory Than Me!

by ferrari360 , Feb 14 '02
Pros: Can save up to 30 games so that you don't have to start over
Cons: Cost
All PS2 owners know that a memory card is a must have accessory. I had to learn that the hard way. On the day that I purchased my PS2, I began playing Gran Turismo 3 for hours and I had completed almost 15 percent of the game. All of the sudden, I...

I wish I had this much memory in my head

by mattjoe Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Jul 31 '01
Pros: It saves your games, allows you to pick up where you left off
Cons: $35
A must have for every Playstation 2 owner is a memory card. There is really no way around this fact of life. Like death, taxes, and politicians who cheat on their wives with interns, you can't avoid this.
Every Playstation 2 owner needs to buy a...

Need Memory.

by tommy_lop Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 30 '03
Pros: needed to save.
Cons: can't save PS1 data
I remember the day when consoles used to come standard with everything you need to play, two controllers, both types of hook ups for regular cable tv and the ones with Audio Video plugs, and even a game. Now days your lucky if you get a controller, and...

INTRO

Playstation 2: The memory card. How’s that for a dramatic opening? Lets face it! Without these little boxes of magic we are totally ruined! Imagine you spend hours playing your favorite game, and...

Some Math on this Much Needed PS2 Option

by Yarborough , Nov 30 '00
Pros: Sony Quality. It can hold the data for approximately 27 different games
Cons: A bit too expensive, Costs more than 3rd party, One should come with the Console
Please remember to pick one up when you buy that PS2 Console.
The Sony 8MB memory, or equivalent, is the first option that you will need to buy for your new Playstation2. It would have been great had they packed one in the box to help justify the...

Pros: 8MB size, speed of transfer
Cons: Bit pricey, but totally worth it
Finally, oh finally, I can write a review of this nice little Sony 8MB memory card for the Playstation 2 because I have actually gotten to purchase a Playstation 2 exactly a week ago as I write this. My review for the PS2 is written as well, but this is...

I'm slightly miffed at this, but I don't have a choice. Its essential.

by shocka Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Nov 21 '01
Pros: Excellent memory storage, pretty fast, works with my PS2 games well
Cons: VERY expensive, doesn't come with the machine, doesn't work with PS1 games
As I recently told my family and friends, I just became the proud owner of a new baby boy. Finally, after saving those pennies at a dead end job I recently was fired at (and I'm soooo upset, hehe) I had enough to buy a top-notch Playstation...

A Must Have For all PS2 owners.

by MichaelHatton Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Feb 26 '01
Pros: Ultra Quick and Loads of Space, Small and well built too.
Cons: Only a need for maths.
I bought my PS2 a few weeks ago, and had a game with it too. And for the last week I'd been trying to play a game, but since I had no memory card, it was pointless playing the game through fully to reset the console and start all over again, so I decided...

Accept no imitations

by mz303 , Jan 01 '01
Pros: Much improved storage system and overall capacity
Cons: Won't work with original Playstation games
Just like the original Playstation; when you're in the market for a memory card, the rule of thumb is to go only with Sony brand cards. You put many days of work into getting your game saves the very best they can be. What you store them on should be of...

by lowow , Dec 08 '00
Pros: holds 8mb of memory
Cons: cost to much and that's not a lot of memory for new games to come
You know when you get a new system like Playstation 2 your going to need a memory card. If you don't have a memory card you can't save your games and you will have to start over everytime without a memory card. The reason why you need a memory card is so...

Best Mem. Card available....

by DCAST35 , Sep 18 '01
Pros: Quick transfer rate, 8mb of mem!!
Cons: Not compatible with other ps1 games... the price!
I've had episodes with other memory cards. NES...whoa to far back. Dreamcast cards, which were big and thick, and for no reason at all because they didn't hold much. The Vmu kind ate batteries in a weeks time and didnt have much use anyway! You saved...

The Real Memory Card

by rpgguy16 , Aug 11 '01
Pros: Space
Cons: $
Remember in the old days when you had the memory card for the PSX? That memory card could save you up to 15 games. Games like NBA Live 2001 could save up to 2-5 slots on your MC. (Memory Card) Im glad I purchased my new memory card for the PS2.

A Must Have for PS2 games, Trust Me.

by NealsCaddy , Feb 23 '01
Pros: Easy to use, holds a lot of data, loads quickly.
Cons: I'll have to get back to you.
First off, let me just say I have never had a PS1. I have never used one either. My opinion is completely based upon PS2. So, I can't really compare products at all.
Yes, the PS2 memory card is a bit on the pricey side, but if you want to get...

PS2 Memory Card

by cyrax187 , Apr 18 '01
Pros: Holds more data than your average 3 1/2 computer disk
Cons: Doesn't come with the system
If you have already brought a ps2 then You may have found out the hard way that game data from a ps2 game CANNOT be saved onto a ps 1 memory card. In fact you need a 8mg memory card. This doesn't mean throw your old card away, because for all your old...

This memory card can handle it all!

by express15_99 , Jun 25 '01
Pros: Very fast data transfers; Small but durable.
Cons: Doesn't come with plastic storage case.
When Sony first came out with its memory card for the PlayStation, it was very good, except for the fact that it had some sluggish data transfer times. Well, Sony took all the stops to make the 8mb Memory Card for the PS2 the best memory card ever! No...

Sony remains reliable...

by tobg , Apr 13 '01
Pros: High Transfer rates Large storage space
Cons: Hefty price tag for memory card
Don't buy the cheaper third party memory cards for the PS2 if you plan to go online in the future. SONY has a special chip containing encryption data that only exists in their cards called "Magic Gate". As far as I know this chip technology has not been...

Hopefully Sony will have something better...

by nick_jenkins , Jan 28 '01
Pros: It's Sony and goes perfect with the PS2.
Cons: Costs too much. Only 8MB of memory.
Hopefully Sony will come out with something better in the future, but for now, this will do just fine. I'll just get right to it, and tell you the problems I have with this thing. It holds 8MB of memory, and that doesn't seem like very much to me. I'm...

Gotta have one

by o6tnineo , Jul 26 '01
Pros: is really fast, works great
Cons: is really expensive

Memory at a price.......

by coolcorey , Jul 16 '01
Pros: Saves game data well, made by the people who made the PS2
Cons: pricey pricey pricey!
Do you have a Playstation 2 entertainment center? If you do, (which you should, if not buy one right now :-) )do you have any games?
If you answered yes to both of those questions, then you will need a memory card.
So far, a couple months...

Never Forget Your Memories
by fear_the_kat ,Apr 21 '04
Pros: 8000 megabites of space. Data is not easily corrupted.
Cons: Easy to lose and a bit pricy.
The PS2 memory card is a large step-up from the original memorycard for Playstation (As is the system itself). Instead of only 15 blocks, it gives you a full 8000 MB [megabites] of space. Although you must buy something to store game saves on PS2, it can hold more than X-Box and Gamecube.

The PS2 memory card allows you to save your game, copy it to another card, and delete information in quick easy-to-use steps. Also, the memory card is designed to fit in any game case that PS2 makes because of it's compact design.

There are even a plethora of colors to choose from: Blue, red, green, clear, black, gray, etc.

If you are new to getting a Playstation 2 system, you'll need to buy a memory card if you wish to advance in any of your games.
