  • Stop-gap systems never succeed...

    Jun 03 '01
Pros: Quality games, a noticeable leap in graphics and sound from 16 bit systems
Cons: Insanely expensive, weak third party support

Summary: ... and it's a real shame too because Panasonic's (or Goldstar's depending on which one you owned) 3DO game system was actually a pretty damn good piece of hardware. In a time when Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis still ruled the mainstream and the only ... read more

  • Kind of a wuss in a playground of pros!

    Jan 12 '05
    Pros: Bladeforce!
Cons: Processing power, game library, and early designs were not impressive at all.

Summary: TELL ME THE STORY OF 3DO AGAIN: The history of 3DO is filled with promise, disappointment, and hope. Launched in late 1993, the most advanced gaming system available at the time met with overwhelming indifference thanks to a $700 price tag and a series ... read more

  • Sadly overlooked system

    Jun 09 '04
Pros: It has some great original games you can't find on any other system.
Cons: Good games can sometimes be difficult to find.

Summary: 3DO faced a similar situation that the Sega Dreamcast encountered a few years back. It was the first-out system of its level with some great titles, but unfortunately it did not have a "Sony" emblem on its box. Many things killed 3DO before it had the ... read more

  • Real 3DO Interactive Multiplayer? Fake 2DO Interpassive Singleplayer is more like it...

    Jan 01 '03
Pros: There are a few playable games.
Cons: Most games are pathetic, and even most good ones can be found elsewhere.

Summary: Back when I was a kid, which was not that long ago, I bought into the 3DO hype, wasting five hundred of my precious, hard-earned dollars, into what was supposed to be the machine of the future. However, its technology was far from advanced, and the SEGA ... read more

  • Panasonic 3DO: birth and death in no-time...

    Oct 19 '02
Pros: Huge game variety; great loading time.
Cons: Graphics and sound are not so spectacular.

Summary: According to my knowledge, this was and still is one of the most underrated consoles launched on the game market. While it is true that the price and marketing did not let it show what it was “made of” and what it had to offer, the ... read more

  • Coulda been a contendah...

    Feb 07 '02
Pros: First 32 bit machine, Some fantastic games!
Cons: Insanely expensive at launch. Some really really bad games.

Summary: So back in 1993, I'm in my local Best Buy and I see this Kiosk set up for a 3DO. The game it's running is Jurrasic Park interractive and it looks like total crap. Not only that, they want 799 bones for the son-of-a-gun! Being a big time gaming freak, ... read more

Pros: Graphics, games and technology (at the time)
Cons: $700 price tag scared everyone, including myself...

Summary: One of my favorite hobbies is writing about video games, mainly classic consoles. Today I am going to write and tell you about a great system which was released in 1993 by a company known worldwide called Panasonic. The Panasonic 3DO console, ... read more

Pros: Great graphics and sound for a '94 game system!
Cons: System and games were expensive!

Summary: I remember sitting in front of the t.v. back in '94, when a commercial came on for 3DO. It was an advertisement for the game "The Need for Speed". I'm a racing simulator fanatic, so as soon as I saw the commercial, I just had to have the game! I ... read more

  • 3DO: GET REAL!? I have a better idea. "Get something else!"

    Aug 12 '01
Pros: The first ever CD only game machine!
Cons: No one game is truly excellent.

Summary: Panasonic 3DO (November 1993-1996) "THIS SYSTEM WAS 1GRAND!" I'm not kidding here, the first time I saw this thing in real life, it looked good, but not a thousand bucks good. Let me explain; this is Canada, and that alone ... read more

  • A great underrated console

    Jun 18 '01
    Pros: The first 32-bit console
    Cons: TOO expensive!!

Summary: As I look back then in 1993 when I first heard about the Panasonic 3DO, I remember a lot of people going nuts for this wonder. Kids used to save even what they din't own to have it. When I first played it, i got very surprised. I couldn't believe ... read more

    Oct 15 '00
Pros: Playstation, many versions, TONS OF GAMES
    Cons: many versions

Summary: I see that most people that rate the 3DO rate it badly. I HAVE a 3DO The games are as good as Playstation's games, in fact, some of the latest 3DO games were also Playstation games. The version of 3DO that is shown at the top, is not ... read more

  • 3D Obscenity

    Sep 29 '00
    Pros: Dirty Games
Cons: takes too long to load games, boring games

Summary: Christmas is a joyous time for a young lad, especially if he is a video game addict, such as myself. The holidays are about the only time a kid can get an overpriced piece of electronica, and in 1994 I had my heart set on a 3DO. So I nagged my parents ... read more

  • 3DO: The First 32-bit Game Console... But at What Price?

    Aug 19 '00
    Pros: Above-average graphics; CD-quality sound
Cons: Initially expensive; lack of third-party support

Summary: The 3DO Interactive Multiplayer was the first 32-bit home video gaming console released in the United States. Boasting a standard CD-ROM drive, this was also the first game system to come out in a long time that did not use cartridges as its standard ... read more
