Pros: Fantastic features for the time, good selection of games Cons: Boneheaded marketing by Atari; few great sports titles
The folks over at Atari, with the Lynx, proved they couldn't find their way out of a paper bag when it came to marketing. I don't know if the Atari 2600 did so well because it was a radical departure from anything we'd seen before, but I'm convinced the...

Pros: The Atari Lynx is 16-bit, has real 3D hardware as well! Cons: Eats my batteries in 3-4 hours, most games are fairly average.
ATARI LYNX (Fall 1989-1993) The first ever colour portable system and it's 16-bit too! "You can tell Atari is really angry now, eh?" They released a system far superior to the weak black and white Gameboy by their arch rival ...

Pros: Cheap, fun portable gaming system with large software library Cons: Didn't survive in the market!
The Atari Lynx. "What," you say, "Atari produced a PORTABLE gaming system?" Yes, venerable and occasionally quixotic Atari, producer of both the successful 2600 and the doomed Jaguar, made the first major-company foray into...

Pros: Cool graphics, excellent puzzle games, back lit screen, left-handed player option, portability, color. Cons: Below average sound, nondurable power jack, poor battery life.
The Atari Lynx, released in 1989, is one of the best portable color consoles to date. I'd say it's a close second to the NeoGeo Pocket Color released by SNK, though NGPC's game library pales in comparison to the Lynx's.
Let's start with the bad...

Pros: cheap nowadays, still the only handheld to have scaling/rotation/polygons until the Game Boy Advance comes out Cons: old,has a bad screen, only a few really good games, bad music
A quick scan of the spec sheet on the Lynx and you should come away thinking that this unit could easily have been released a few years ago and kicked some butt.
Scaling, rotation, 16 bit processor, vertical OR horizontal play, color screen....and...

Pros: Quality of games, Current Price Cons: No games being made anymore, graphics not as good as current games
Way back when the Lynx first came out, I was quick to jump on the wagon and get one. Compared to what was out at the time: Game Gear and Gameboy; the Lynx had em beat. With the backing of a big player like Atari, the thing would be big and last as long...

Pros: A fair crop of really fun games and a backlight feature! Cons: Too many games that suck! But just don't buy them, and it's alright.
Don't get me wrong. Atari Lynx was pretty great. It was my very first handheld game system. Angry with father for giving my sister a gameboy, the suprise gift of lynx made up for all of that. Lynx is a color, 16-bit game system by Atari that offered ...

Pros: design, fun, cheap Cons: fragile, not in production, battery life
I remember when I purchased my Lynx, it was a choice between the NEC TurboExpress ($300+), Gameboy, or the Atari Lynx. I already had a gameboy but it wasn't color and the first generation units were a tad uncomfortable on the hands. The TurboExpress is...

Pros: Graphics, sound, games, everything! Cons: Short battery life.
One of the most impressive hand-held systems ever, and still showing why, in spite of the bad marketing and commercial stuff that surrounded it, it is considered the best of its kind.
Initially, the project was developed by a company...

Pros: Far superior to GameBoy Color, never mind the original B&W GameBoy Cons: Only one flaw: Burns through AA batteries very quickly.
This handheld game unit is about the same size and shape as a Sega Game Gear or Nomad, or about twice as thick and somewhat larger then a GameBoy Color.
The Atari Lynx has a beautiful *backlight* colour screen. It had a custom graphics chip...

Pros: It's the best Atari system I've ever seen!!! Cons: The batteries have VERY short life...
I think it is a very underrated system. I am not as old as many people who had the chance to see when it saw the light for the fist time, but I can say that is the best of it's kind (Game Boy, what's that?)...
It has great games, such as Pit-Fighter...
